What the service is

blablaType consists of three parts. The first is a push-to-talk desktop dictation app for Windows. You hold a hotkey, speak, and the text is typed at your cursor in any application: an editor, a messenger, email, a browser. A separate hotkey turns on live translation: you speak your own language, and a translation appears in the field, for example in English. Another turns on speech cleanup: the app removes filler words like "um", "uh", "like" and fixes grammar. There is a corrections dictionary: correct a word once and the app remembers it. The Max plan adds voice commands over selected text. You assign every hotkey yourself on first run, and can change them in settings. Recognition runs on the server, so the app needs an internet connection. 35 recognition languages and 25 translation languages are supported; the main languages are Russian, Ukrainian, and English. A macOS version is in development.

The second part is a free web dictation widget on the homepage. It runs on the browser's built-in speech recognition (Chrome or Edge), requires no registration, and audio from the widget is not sent to blablaType servers: it is processed by the browser's own engine.

The third part is file transcription: upload an audio or video file and receive a text transcript. This feature is coming soon; it is described in more detail in a separate section below.

Account and the free plan

The desktop app requires an account. When you sign up, we store your email, a hashed device identifier, and the state of your plan. You agree to provide a valid email and are responsible for all activity under your account.

The free plan (Free) requires no bank card and does not expire. It includes dictation in every Windows application with automatic punctuation, up to 60 minutes of recognised speech per calendar month. The allowance resets at the start of each calendar month (UTC). When it is used up, dictation pauses until the next month begins or until you take a paid subscription; your account is kept either way.

Creating multiple accounts, or other manipulation intended to get around the free plan's allowance, is prohibited and is grounds for suspending access.

Pro and Max plans

Pro at $8.99 per month removes the free plan's minute allowance and includes the corrections dictionary, live translation, and speech cleanup: the app removes filler words and fixes grammar.

Max at $12.99 per month includes everything in Pro, plus voice commands over selected text and send-as-you-speak, where the Enter key is pressed automatically after a dictation.

Both plans can be paid yearly at a 20% discount: Pro is $86.30 per year and Max is $124.70 per year.

All prices shown are final and include applicable taxes: the amount you see is the amount you are charged. Prices are stated in US dollars; if you pay in another currency, the final amount depends on your bank's exchange rate.

Paid plans have no minute limit for good-faith personal use. We apply technical safeguards against abuse (automated submission of audio, sharing one account between several people, reselling access); these safeguards do not affect normal human use.

The current plan features and prices are published on the website. The subscription renews automatically for the paid period until you cancel it.

File transcription (coming soon)

File transcription will let you upload an audio or video file (mp3, wav, m4a, ogg, mp4, mov) and receive a text transcript. This feature is still in development; its pricing will be announced at launch. Right now blablaType works as live voice dictation in any application.

The uploaded file and the resulting text are not stored longer than needed to process the file and deliver the result. For details on data processing, see the Privacy Policy.

By uploading a file, you confirm that you have the right to have it processed and that its content does not break the law or infringe the rights of third parties.

Payments and refunds

When payments are enabled in the service, they are processed by Paddle acting as the merchant of record. Bank card details are handled on the Paddle side and never touch blablaType servers.

You can cancel your subscription at any time: access to the paid features remains until the end of the paid period, and no further charges will be made.

A subscription payment can be refunded on request within 14 days after the charge, provided the paid period has not been substantially used. Abuse of the refund policy is grounds for refusing a refund.

Acceptable use

You may use the service only lawfully. It is prohibited to violate the rights of third parties, use the service to harm other people, attempt to bypass technical restrictions, quotas, and the plan system, or interfere with the operation of the service.

Intellectual property

All rights to the app, the website, the blablaType name, and the elements of the service belong to the service operator. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app and the website for their intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, or decompile the app, or distribute it without our consent.

The text you dictate, translate, or receive through transcription remains yours. We claim no rights to your content and use it only to deliver the result of the service to you.

No warranties: the service comes "as is"

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". Speech recognition and translation run on statistical models, so the output may contain errors. Always review the text before using it in important documents or in legal, medical, or financial matters.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the service, compatibility with every device and environment, or that specific features will remain unchanged. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator of blablaType is not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, loss of data, or loss of business reputation arising from the use of the service or the inability to use it.

The operator's total liability for any claims related to the service is limited to the amount you actually paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the event that gave rise to the claim. If you used only the free features, liability is limited to the minimum amount permitted by law.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law or deprives you of rights granted by mandatory consumer protection rules.

Termination of access

We may suspend or terminate your access to the service if you violate these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if you attempt to bypass restrictions and plans, or if the law requires it. If access is terminated for a serious or repeated violation, a refund is not guaranteed.

You can stop using the service at any time: cancel your subscription and stop using the app. For deleting your account and related data, see the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves: when new features appear, plans change, or the law requires it. The date of the latest update is shown at the top of the page. We will announce significant changes in a reasonable way, for example with a notice on the website or in the app.

By continuing to use the service after the changes take effect, you agree to the updated terms. If you do not agree with the changes, stop using the service and cancel your subscription if needed.
